About Tracey

Tracey shares with the Director, Julian Webb, the task of overseeing the strategic direction of the Centre and has particular responsibility for UKCLE’s research and evaluation activities. She advises and comments on research proposals submitted to UKCLE, commissions research on behalf of the legal education community, writes bids for funding, develops resources to support pedagogical research and contributes to research activity generated by cognate organisations as required. Her research brief encompasses the Learning in Law Annual Conference.

In conjunction with colleagues from other Higher Education Academy subject centres Tracey is presently involved in the planning groups for two nationally funded projects on Islamic Studies and Education for Sustainable Development. Tracey also works with other subject centres to provide resources and support for teaching and learning in Criminology.

Prior to joining the University of Warwick as Project Co-ordinator of the National Centre for Legal Education in 1997, Tracey was a lecturer in law at the University of Leicester, specialising in criminology and criminal law. In January 2000 she became the Centre Co-ordinator for the LTSN subject centre for law (the UK Centre for Legal Education) and was promoted to the position of Centre Manager and Research Co-ordinator in January 2002. From January 2005, following the Centre’s incorporation within the Higher Education Academy and the subsequent reorganisation of staff roles at the Centre, she became the Centre’s Associate Director.

Tracey studied law at the University of Kent (1985-88) and criminology at the University of Cambridge (1989-90). Tracey is studying part time for a PhD in Educational Research at Lancaster University.

Tracey is a member of the Society of Legal Scholars, the Association of Law Teachers and the Society for Research in Higher Education.
